369 - Japanese

1. Ha Ha Ha Ha
You can tell these jokes are funny because creepy Japanese children laugh at them.

2. Sushi Express
I believe the footage stops when it does because one of the sushi chefs steals the camera. In related news, a rash of toy train themed restaurants has apparently been popping up around the Chicago area. I haven't been to one yet. But I'm going someday.

3. Stolling Down the Avenue
A girl and her shadow play basketball.. Remember how Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. used to sing a duet of "Me and My Shadow?" There's no way anyone would get away with that today.

4. Sensei Clean
A clean toilet brings good luck. (This message brought to you by the Japanese Bathroom Cleanser Manufacturers Association.)

5. Do Not
Unlike our first link, in which four creepy Japanese girls allowed us to laugh, this video is about exactly the opposite.

Instant Karma

1. Instant Karma
It turns out that Orca totally kicks the ass of Jaws.

Self Cleaning Deep Fryer

2. Self Cleaning Deep Fryer
Some Japanese dude floats a lot of scalding hot oil on top of a goldfish tank. Since I don't understand Japanese I don't really know how or why he does this. Based on the comments on the article there aren't a lot of Japanese translators on the internet.

Public Display of Affection

3. Public Display of Affection
Otters holding hands are briefly separated and then hold hands again. Sickeningly sweet.

Juggler's Dreams

4. Juggler's Dreams
Adrian Pole is a 12 year old juggler living in the U.K. Not only is he a good juggler, he is also a skilled videographer and editor. Based on his online videos, Adrian has been invited to compete in the World Juggling Federation's upcoming July competition. The WJF is sponsoring Adrian's entry fees, but they need a little help to cover travel expenses. Help out if you feel like it. Don't feel guilty if you don't.

Punctuation

5. Punctuation
Apostrophes and commas; do you know where they are supposed to go? Do you care?

Outed

1. Outed
Just before falling asleep on stage, superstar, David Hasselhoff, revealed to a stunned Irish audience that his famous, vehicular co-star, KITT, was a homosexual. No word from Bo and Luke Duke on the sexuality if the General Lee.

George W. Hilton

2. George W. Hilton
All of your favorite male political figures re-imagined as women by a group of master photochoppers.

Portland Street Pony Project

3. Portland Street Pony Project
In order to draw attention to the living history going unnoticed around the city, artist, Scott Wayne Indiana began tethering tiny plastic horses to the antique hitching rings scattered around the curbs of Portland. Soon others joined in with his project and started adding their own horses.

For Sale

4. For Sale
Anybody wanna buy a mammoth?

Pedal Powered

5. Pedal Powered
The Japanese have done it again. They took the time and inginuity to build an awesome human powered, bicycling, roller coaster. The translation comes off a some kind of avant garde poetry.

We fear the body, it is recognized that it comes,
The wind blowing, when it reaches, already, it is highest now

Beecher?

1. Beecher?
The Chicagoland Ghost Hunters Group is based in Beecher which I don't really think is considered Chicagoland. I'm tempted to attend one of their meetings, or missions, or whatever, just to lend a voice of reason and rationality. Probably won't though.

Magical Memories

2. Magical Memories
How to build elaborate children's playhouses out of cardboard.

DIY Drum Pads

3. DIY Drum Pads
Build an electronic snare drum pad out of a piezo buzzer (available at radio shack) and then expand the concept into an entire drum kit.

Naked in a Box

4. Naked in a Box
Who knows what the hell this is about?

Live Action Japanese Pac-Man

Live Action Japanese Pac-Man
The title says it all.

238 - Monkey Tuesday

Bean Shower

1. Bean Shower
A bunch of Japanese people got together and pelted the gorillas in the Tokyo Zoo with roasted soybeans in an attempt to make the gorillas "live healthy and long lives and that the females and males get along better in order that they produce more gorillas." Seems reasonable to me.

I'd Hammer in the Morning

2. I'd Hammer in the Morning
Researchers working in West Africa's Ivory Coast have recently discovered what could be considered evidence that chimps maybe possibly could have used stone tools to crack nuts as long as 4,300 years ago.

Technically Not really Monkeys

3. Technically Not really Monkeys
Who is better; the classic seamonkey, or the new kid on the block, the triops? Join the debate.

Things Are Tough All Over

4. Things Are Tough All Over
Baby colobus monkey, Sokojoo, got kicked out of the house because her mom was sick to death of listening to the nonstop hiccupping.

Monkey Big Brother

5. Monkey Big Brother
If you think this is a good idea, just wait until you see next year's Weakest Monkey Link and Monkey Fear Factor.

You Found My What?

1. You Found My What?
In 1947, Joan Barnes had her coat and wallet stolen. 60 years later the wallet was returned. The money was long gone, however.

Robot Snow Eater

2. Robot Snow Eater
The Japanese are at it again. They've invented an autonomous robot that eats snow off the roads and poops out ice cubes. Not only awesome, also very cute.

I Was Just Really Warm

3. I Was Just Really Warm
William N. Barret III pleads not guilty to accusations of stripping naked and masturbating in a ski lift gondola in Vermont. I'm betting that William N. Barret II is ashamed of his son.

Survival of the Fizziest

4. Survival of the Fizziest
A tribute to the extinct soft drinks from years of old.

Sleepy Sloth

5. Sleepy Sloth
Another entry in what I hope to be a long video series of cute baby animals falling asleep.

036 - Japan TV - with Links!

Yuki 1. Yuki
If popular music video channel, MTV, were to air this in the U.S. it would almost surely become a weird overnight sensation.

an

I'm assuming there are very few laws in Japan related to suing people who throw you naked into the snow when a camera is pointing at you.

Bubble Rings 3. Bubble Rings
Just like blowing smoke rings but done underwater, and in Japan.

Spray a common house fly with carbon monoxide and it will do virtually anything you ask it to do.

Spider-man 5. Spider-man
I confess. I didn't actually watch this. It was just too damn long. Maybe one day I get through the whole thing. It looks like the subtitles might be funny.

005 - with Links!

1. Pitagora Suicchi
Everyone loves Japanese television, right? I can't help but smile every time that little ball gets to the end and the jingle plays.

Not only is Gary Busey crazy, he also loves trains. He loves parallel universes too. I really don't know what to make of this. You be the judge. Turn your speakers down a little.

3. New Futurama Episodes
I liked Family Guy, I thought it was funny, and I bought the DVDs. Since it came back on TV, I haven't seen a single episode. Maybe I'll try harder this time. I was trying to find a picture of that dog that dies alone, but I didn't want to make J.D. cry.

Why does anyone care about the freaking bird flu when there are crazy unbelievable diseases like this floating around? And human beings are actually getting them.

5. Gigan
Somebody already purchased this drawing before I had a chance to buy it, but Nathan The Artist seems to be cranking out more art for the world to enjoy. I'd like to suggest more scenes of urban destruction as his work seems to fit well into the Giant Monster School of fine art.
