Solar Eclipse

1. Solar Eclipse
This is a really awesome video of the moon passing in front of the face of the sun. From Earth the moon and sun are virtually the same size. This video, however, was filmed from the Stereo-B, a satellite/spacecraft in orbit around the sun.

The Bishop

2. The Bishop
Why haven't I heard about this unibomber-esque guy sending threatening letters and poorly constructed pipe bombs to the nation's financial institutions?

Operation Paperclip

3. Operation Paperclip
Would we have ever made it to the moon without the assistance of Wernher Von Braun and other Nazi scientists? America today might be an entirely different place had it not been for their influence. Plus, isn't Operation Paperclip an awesome codename? If you can't ignore the illuminati bullshit, the Wikipedia entry has most of the same information.

That's Not Perrier

1. That's Not Perrier
I'm sorry to inform you that any health benefits you received from soaking in the pure mineral water at the Saratoga Spa State Park in New York were imaginary. For the last 17 years operators of the spa have been pouring regular city tap water into their tubs. It's seems it is just to expensive to heat up all that mineral water.

Saturn is Creepy

2. Saturn is Creepy
Think there is something weird about the giant hexagon shaped storm pattern rotating around the north pole of Saturn? Well just take a look at the creepy human eye at the south pole.

The Last Dragon He Ain't

4. The Last Dragon He Ain't
In case you need more evidence that chi power is bullshit, take a look at this "mystical" old man getting the crap beat out of him by a young guy. I feel kind of bad for the guy. He seems so surprised when his opponent is able to reach through "the flow" and punch him in the nose.

Big Stranger Rodeo

5. Big Stranger Rodeo
You see a big stranger. You jump on them, like it's a rodeo.Stay off ground for as long as possible. When you've fallen off...Leg it!

Got It Bad

1. Got It Bad
The recent statutory rape trend popular among young female teachers has taken a tragic turn. When Eric McLean, husband of Erin McLean, a student teacher, heard rumors of a relationship between his wife and a student, he allegedly gunned down the 18 year old while he sat in his car. Mr. Mclean was handily captured and is waiting for his hearing on march 27th.

Vote Abductee

2. Vote Abductee
Instead of blaming her recent election loss on the fact that she believes that she was abducted by aliens, former recorder-treasurer of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas is suing the mayor and police chief for somehow preventing her re-election. Place the blame on the citizens that refused to vote for your crazy ass, says the Judge presiding over the case.

Boomshine

3. Boomshine
There really is nothing to this game other than clicking your mouse randomly and waiting to see what happens. However the music, sound, color and simplicity of design all elevate it to the level of art.

Manhunt

4. Manhunt
A tip for those readers that might enjoy breaking into a home and having a wild party when the owner is not at home: If you would rather not get busted, don't take a shitload of photos of yourself in the act and forget to take your digital camera with you when you leave the scene of the crime.

Star Chart

5. Star Chart
I don't really know how this thing works, but it is pretty cool to play around with, and I'm sure that any amateur astronomer would be able to get some use out of it.

1. Arguments
One man's record of everything he and his girlfriend have argued about. Including such things as, "Those little toothpaste speckles you make when you brush your teeth in front of the mirror." "Where to sit in the cinema." and "She really over-reacts whenever she catches me wearing her underwear."

Periodic Print Project

2. Periodic Print Project
Etsy seller, Jennifer Schmitt. has come up with a great way to combine the world of art with the world of science and added in a bit of communal effort to make her project that much better. She is taking contributions for a hand printed periodic table of elements. Each artist designs a 6x6 inch print for an element and eventually they will be combined into one giant table. There are a few elements left unclaimed, so if you are a printmaker, and would like to get involved, do so before they are all snatched up.

Spielberg Power!

3. Spielberg Power!
Steven Spielberg flexed a little bit of his muscle recently by convincing the Motion Picture Association of America to reconsider the R-Rating they slapped on the upcoming Micheal Bay Transformers movie. Without demanding any edits whatsoever, the MPAA dropped the rating down to a PG-13 after spending a few minutes alone in a small room with Mr. Spielberg.

254 - Space-ish

Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

1. Kiss Your Ass Goodbye
The recent rash of space objects hurtling at the earth inspired Keith Hogan, a teacher in England, to teach his 230 students about the value of life by telling them an asteroid was about to hit us and kill everyone. His plan went haywire when the kids took him at his word and started seriously freaking out.

Don't Pucker Up Just Yet

2. Don't Pucker Up Just Yet
Phil Plait of Bad Astronomy seems to think we shouldn't be so worried about that kind of asteroid, certainly not the one headed our way in 2029 at least.

The Hutt

3. The Hutt
Like most people of my age, I have an interest in the Star Wars movies. These people, however, have taken that interest to the extreme. There is really way too much information on the Wookieepedia. Seriously, how much does the world need to know about The Hutt?

Lunar Real Estate

4. Lunar Real Estate
NASA recently began testing of a prototype inflatable building which will eventually become the basic habitat for our first base on the moon, a mission planned to begin sometime around 2020.

Eclipse

5. Eclipse
Finally today, a heads-up about the total lunar eclipse that will be happening this Saturday. If you are in the part of the world lucky enough to see it completely, get out there and take a look. Show it to some kids.

237 - Capricorn

Capricorn Two

1. Capricorn Two
In addition to a bunch of other unlikely movie sequels in the works, it seems someone has finally recognized the need for a sequel/remake of the 1978 "classic" Capricorn One.

Capricorn One

2. Capricorn One
Capricorn One stars James Brolin, Sam Waterston, and O.J. Simpson as a trio of NASA astronauts ready to set off on the first manned mission to Mars. When NASA realizes there is a problem with the space capsule, the astronauts are forced to film a fake version of their landing. Then NASA tracks the three men through the desert trying to kill them, in order to keep the secret.

Hoax

3. Hoax
The basic premise of Capricorn One was clearly inspired by the notion, based on NASA photographs and film, that The Apollo moon landings were filmed on a soundstage right here on earth and that no man has ever set foot on the moon.

The Truth

4. The Truth
The plain fact is this; of course men walked on the moon! Besides the fact that every single one of the moon conspiracy theories is easily refuted by a basic understanding of practical physics and how photography works, simple common sense tells us that a conspiracy of this magnitude could not be kept secret. The president couldn't even get a blowjob without the entire world finding out. No credible person has ever come forward with a first hand account of involvement in creating a hoax.

See for Yourself

5. See for Yourself
Please feel free to watch Capricorn One. It isn't really a great movie, but it is kind of entertaining. Just remember that it is not reality, it is a piece of Hollywood fantasy. If you want to see the real thing, there is a ton of quicktime videos at the Apollo 11 Video Library and classic documentaries about many of the Apollo mission at The Internet Archive.

A calf born in December with two faces reached the end of her short life last Friday. Her story will live on in one of the Ripley's Believe It or Not museums across America.

Great Balls of Fire

3. Great Balls of Fire
Where the hell was I when all these sightings of fireballs were reported across the midwest? I was in-freaking-side. It is zero damn degrees out there.

Possible Criminal Activity

4. Possible Criminal Activity
Simple instuctions on how to hack the Coinstar machine in your grocery store so that you won't have to pay the service fee. This is probably illegal, so you should really just go to your bank and ask them to give you the paper money you so desperately need.

Double Lifts
