1. No Quarter While looking for block prints for last week's Etsy Monday, I came across Casey Sorrow's shop.

2. Jetsam I wanted to include one of his works with the other prints, but then decided to give this SCUBA series an entire post.

3. Flotsam Most of Casey's designs are inspired by vintage genre comics which have a graphic quality that lends itself well to the linoleum block cutting technique.

1. Birth I don't know how to tell you when to tune in for the big event, but The Prague Zoo will be transmitting live via internet, the rare-ish birth of a bouncing baby gorilla sometime soon. The translation of the site is a bit wonky, so if you can figure out when to watch, let me know.

2. Monkey Mouse Paleontologist, Jonathan Bloch, and a new fossil discovery in Yellowstone National Park, lend credence to the notion that early primates evolved from small mouse-like mammals that may have flourished soon after the cataclysm that wiped out the dinosaurs.

3. Chimpasic Park A mystery developed in Louisiana when Teresa, a primate resident of Chimp Haven turned up pregnant, even though all of her male roommates have had vesectemies. Life will find a way!

4. Great Ape A giant gorilla is on the loose in the town of Carrollton, Texas. You'll be able to recognize him because he is "wearing blue boxers and a yellow shirt."

5. More Birth Another primate's right to privacy was taken away when the camera crews witnessed the birth of a baby howler monkey.

216 - Etsy Prints

1. Nude Lying on a Sofa In honor of the printmaking class I just started, I'm picking a few nice wood block and linoleum prints on Etsy. First is a linocut by Natalia Moroz who has a whole shop full of great prints

2. Along the Cabot Trail Magprint is another linocutter making nice prints.

3. Hillside Kris Shanks has a collection of woodblock and linocuts for sale as well as some very nice original still life oil paintings.

4. BBQ Jonathan Apgar seems to be a screenprinter primarily, but his shop has a few sweet block prints in it as well.

5. Untitled This print by Connie Pierson has a softly refined quality not often seen in block prints. The fact that is is cut from wood rather than linoleum makes it all the more impresive.

1. Fraud It is being reported by a lot of websites and blogs that Sylvia Browne has been caught in another in an ever growing list of "psychic errors." In 2003, she calously reported that a recently missing boy, Shawn Hornbeck was dead. You probably have heard that Shawn was reunited with his family on January 13th.

2. Jungle Girl The BBC is reporting on a "half-human and half-animal" Cambodian girl who has been living in the wild for the the past 19 years. The article is woefully lacking in details and seems sketchy for some reason.

3. Bass Diddley Bow I'm not entirely sure what The Ministry of Hope is all about, but damn, these are some talented kids playing awesome homemade instruments.

4. Welcome Back When Lewis Hill returned home to East St. Lewis from vacation he was surprised to find that the city had demoloshed his home. Another unfortunately, sketchy article without a lot of information and absolutely no input from the city about their side of the story.
